Well had a check up.
The good news is that nothing that will cause long term issues has developed and scans, eye check etc came back clear. I have my eyes checked more often due as I have an eye sight test each year so this I already knew would be clear.
The less good news is that I have developed a few more neurofibromas on my torso. Well as I keep this covered most of the time it isn't a major problem. I have been fortunate that so far none have developed on my face but I do have one just behind my ear - although keeping my hair a little longer covers this one.
Really quite uneventful to be honest thankfully I have a mild case (so far) of it.

Covid-19 and NF1
So we have heared a lot about underlying conditions and Covid-19 so to keep things brief:
Covid-19 is a SERIOUS condition. We are not talking about something a bit like seasonal flu here. We are possibly talking about something that is on the same page as the 1918-19 Spanish flu pandemic which killed about 50 millon people world wide - more than died in the first world war. That pandemic killed NOT just the elderly or already unwell. It was reported than young fit people who appeared to be fit and well at breakfast were dead by dinner time the same day.
You have been told by governments to say at home so show some common sence and do it.
However, does NF1 increase your risk and make it more dangerous? Not neesseseraly no. From what I have read, unless you are undergoing treatmemt for serious conditions that can develop with NF you are at no greater risk of getting nor developing complications should you catch covid-19.
The best thing is to read the available information on reputable sites, I tend to stick to the NHS site and the dept of health sites.

Neurology update TIA etc
It has been a while since I posted on here. Nothing really has changed so all stable etc.
The neurology department decided a while ago they did not need to keep seeing me as I have had no further issues from the TIA I had nor any issues with my NF.
The only real change has been that I'm an uncle. Now, my brother asked me about my neurofibromatosis and the chances my nephews will have it. Well unless he or my sister-in-law has NF the chances are small as it is carried by a dominant gene. Hence his children can only get it if he or my sister-in-law have NF which neither do so their children are unlikely have it either. Unless it has been caused by a random gene mutation.
Oh well as there us nothing more at this time, I'll sign off. I do have my other blogs on here which I am updating a bit more often.
